Cherished Tails Senior Sanctuary rescues senior dogs (and a few cats) at high risk of euthanasia in shelters because of age or illness. We give sanctuary until they find a forever home and hospice care for the unadoptable.
Together, we've saved over 1000 pets. Join us to give these pets their best last chapter. We are a 501(c)3, all volunteer, foster based rescue group in Marana, AZ.
Finding Homes for Senior Dogs
Cherished Tails focuses on senior dogs who are at risk in local shelters due to age, medical or behavior.
Since our inception in 2017, we have rescued over 1,500 animals. In addition to adoptions, we also provide “fospice” care for those that are too advanced in age, or have medical or behavioral conditions preventing them from being adoptable. We have over 60 foster homes who care for dogs short term or long term depending on their specific needs.
In the summer of 2021 we started a new program called Cherished Tomorrows to serve younger dogs who are at risk due to space in one of our rural local “border” shelters. We were able to recruit some fosters specifically to help these pups and since have been able to save over 50 dogs under 5 who would have been euthanized at this very overwhelmed shelter
